The SAFI FOOTING CALCULATOR allows the user to quickly and easily design reinforced concrete footings without the need to create and analyze a complete structural model (nodes, members, load combinations, etc.).

UNIT SYSTEMS

The SAFI STEEL CALCULATOR™ is used for the verification, evaluation and design of simple or continuous beams and columns. It is a validation tool for complex model members designed with other software.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

•Predefined models include:
– Simple beams with common support conditions.
– Continuous beams with up to four spans.
– Cantilever beams.
– Gerber beams.
– Columns with offset loads with common support conditions.

•Standard CISC, AISC or European sections or parametric section shapes libraries created with the GSE software.

•Latest revisions of the CAN/CSA S16, AISC ASD and LRFD codes and Eurocode.

•Sections can be selected by the user or by the program.

•Dead, live, wind, snow and seismic loads.

•Required inputs : section types, basic loads, geometric limits and design parameters.

•To account for steel shape availability, the program can also perform verification on all section shapes of a given category.

•The various steel design parameters such as unbraced length, bending coefficients and second order effects coefficients can be customized to tune-up the model.

•Load combinations are created automatically by the program according to various codes such as the NBCC, BOCA, UBC, ASCE 7 and Eurocode.

•Load patterns for continuous beams can be carried out automatically by the program.

•Load combinations and load patterns can be customized to tune-up the models.

•Graphical tools are provided to validate the models, the section dimensions and loads.

The SAFI CONCRETE CALCULATOR™ is a simple and powerful tool which allows to analyze, and design reinforced concrete beams, slabs and columns cross sections.

•This Calculator is made to provide quick answers to common problems without the overhead of a full structural design program. It is a very handy and productive tool associated with the GSE CONCRETE DESIGN program.

•Easy and productive tool for the analysis and design of reinforced concrete cross sections. It allows to determine the resistance or the reinforcement of a section in mere seconds.

•Analysis and design of a single concrete sections or multiple sections.

•It supports the American ACI-318-02 code, the Canadian CSA-A23.3-04 code, the Egyptian design code ECCS 203-2001 and the Canadian bridge design code CSA-S6.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

•Designs the required reinforcement bars of rectangular, T, L and I beam sections as well as one-way slabs in pure bending.

•The program allows to design for a user defined reinforcement ratio and provides compression reinforcement when required.

•It designs the required reinforcement bars of rectangular, T, L and I beam sections in shear and torsion.

•The program allows to design using straight or inclined stirrups as well as series or bundled bent bars.

•The program accounts for axial forces, equilibrium torsion as well as compatibility torsion.

•It designs the required reinforcement bars of rectangular and circular column sections in combined compression and bending or tension and bending.

•The program allows to specify a target reinforcement ratio and calculates the optimal column dimensions.

•Second order effects such as lateral drift and member stability are taken into account when requested.

•The interaction diagrams for the calculated reinforcement bars is also provided as output.

•In situations where the reinforcement is known, the program calculates the resistance of the cross section and corresponding data such as stresses in concrete and reinforcement bars and reinforcement ratios.

•Libraries of standard metric and imperial material properties are available.

•Customized materials can also be created.

•Large number of solved problems and references are available.

The SAFI FOOTING CALCULATOR is used as a standalone application or in combination with the GSE CONCRETE DESIGN program.

This Calculator allows the user to quickly and easily design reinforced concrete footings without the need to create and analyze a complete structural model (nodes, members, load combinations, etc.).

•The FOOTING CALCULATOR allows to perform the design of four different types of footings.

Each type of footing can be designed with a certain type of column.
-Isolated square footing: reinforced concrete column or steel column
-Isolated rectangular footing: reinforced concrete column or steel column
-Strip footing: reinforced concrete wall
-Combined footing: reinforced concrete column or steel column

•This Engineering Calculator supports the American ACI-318-02 code, the Canadian CAN/CSA-A23.3-01 code, the Egyptian code ECCS 203-2001.
